I'm Darya, the maker behind GRASSROOTSDESIGNS. My inspiration comes from the clean lines of modern architecture and it's opposite: the free form of nature. Island raised (Cortes), I now live in Royston on Vancouver Island. I am self taught and work from a small, rustic studio on my property and in my ultra modern home that I designed. I enjoy going out to my little space and developing designs. It is not uncommon for there to be prototypes and half finished inspirations scattered about my studio, and while sometimes it takes hours of visualizing, drawing, forming, testing, and then often, reshaping, other times I just start working the material and it shows me what it wants to be. I work in brass, sterling silver, copper and bronze.
