Last night my 4 year old son watched me make a custom ring for his Great Grandmother. He liked it so much that he asked me to make him one this morning. We sized his finger (he already knew which loop fit because he had been playing with my ring sizer earlier in the week...lol) and then he picked a stone. He chose the beautiful, golden coloured, Malay Jade and watched me build his ring. It is his cousins birthday coming up so he wanted "US" to make her a ring as well. She will be two. He chose another beautiful stone, an Apple Green Magnesite and I built her ring. Both rings are size 1 1/2 and are very tiny. There is something so sweet about seeing it on his hand and I think his cousin will like hers too.
I am mostly self taught and develop many of my designs through simple experimentation. Discovering a new technique or applying an old technique in a new way is very exciting for me. I often have middle of the night "brain waves" and some not so brilliant, "brilliant ideas." It is what keeps the process fresh.
