I am now making rings. I cannot take all of the credit for the design of the frame on this one. I have a very clever friend and fellow beader who inspired the shape, gave me permission to use it, and then I went to town making it my own. All of the wire rings I have seen in the past have been made of multiple strands of wire. This new design allows me to use just one strand of wire making the ring more comfortable and closer to a standard feel. I was able to find a very srtong copper that is close to a 12 guage, making the frame very solid and giving it a nice substantial feel. So exciting! Thank you Joella for sharing your brain wave with me and allowing me to be creative with it! You are truly a gifted artist and a great friend.
I am mostly self taught and develop many of my designs through simple experimentation. Discovering a new technique or applying an old technique in a new way is very exciting for me. I often have middle of the night "brain waves" and some not so brilliant, "brilliant ideas." It is what keeps the process fresh.
