This custom order set started with the ring. A client really wanted one of my copper rings and she really wanted a fuchsia stone. I knew that the bright orange colour of the copper would not complement the fuchsia very nicely so I opted to do something different than what I had done in the past. I heavily oxidized the copper frame until it was black but left the brass raw. The contrast of the dark frame with the light brass and bold pink of the stone works perfectly. She loved the ring so much that she requested earrings in the same stone. I did a very simple wire wrap in the same brass to complement.
I am mostly self taught and develop many of my designs through simple experimentation. Discovering a new technique or applying an old technique in a new way is very exciting for me. I often have middle of the night "brain waves" and some not so brilliant, "brilliant ideas." It is what keeps the process fresh.
