This week was my Mother-in-law's Birthday. 38 years old I believe she said. As I was hunting through one of our local gem stores (Shipwrecked Bead Shop) I stumbled upon these absolutely gorgeous stones. I instantly knew they were meant for her.
I wire wrapped the earrings and pendant stones in raw copper then oxidized them to bring out the rich brown/black colour in the wire. I used brass as an accent to add more dimension to the pendant and then hand made the clasp for the chain. The dark wire complements the bright wine colour of the stones so nicely and I love the crackle that can be seen inside the stones and the shimmer they produce. I have named this piece "Linda" which is Spanish for "Pretty" because it suits my Mother-in-law so perfectly and she is named Linda. xoxo
I am mostly self taught and develop many of my designs through simple experimentation. Discovering a new technique or applying an old technique in a new way is very exciting for me. I often have middle of the night "brain waves" and some not so brilliant, "brilliant ideas." It is what keeps the process fresh.
